Chelsea Talks For Manchester City’s Nathan Ake And Raheem Sterling Progressing Ahead Of Double Swoop

Talks for Nathan Ake and Raheem Sterling have reportedly progressed as Chelsea look to make a double swoop this summer.

Thomas Tuchel has been promised as many as six incomings in the summer transfer window, with a potential to bring in two players from Pep Guardiola’s side.

The most recent reports have stated that a deal for Sterling could be as good as done as the Blues reportedly agreed to offer £45 million plus add-ons for the winger.

The central defender could complete a surprise return to Stamford Bridge, where he came through the academy following a move from the Netherlands.

Discussions have been ongoing for Ake, as well as for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, while Kalidou Koulibaly is also of interest, however it appears that the Man City man could land himself at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea’s summer transfer plans were revealed last month.

When speaking to The Telegraph, they said: “The key is to basically work with Tuchel to come up with the best players that are available.

“We really want to make sure we have a good defence. We’ve got depth in midfield. We’re not desperate for an out-and-out striker.”

With defence being prioritised after Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen’s departures, Ake could be set to join alongside Sterling.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, conversations between Chelsea and Manchester City for Rahem Sterling and Ake are progressing well.

Both players are said to be keen on joining Tuchel’s side this summer as the German looks for a rebuild of his squad.

Romelu Lukaku has already departed for Inter Milan on a season-long loan, with Hakim Ziyech potentially exiting too.

It remains to be seen as to if the conversations with Sterling progressed due to Raphinha’s stance or whether the Blues were looking for two wingers this summer.

Ake could see himself team up with De Ligt at club level as the pair form a partnership for the Netherlands on international duty, competing with Virgil Van Dijk for a spot in defence.

De Ligt and Ake are said to be key to Tuchel’s plans next season as he looks to compete in all competitions once more.

It remains to be seen if a deal can be reached for Ake and Sterling as Chelsea look to kick-start their summer business.
